From August 18 to 26, the Russian Boxing Championship was held in Khabarovsk. The competition was hosted by the Platinum Arena, which became a real Colosseum.
The country's best athletes competed for 52 sets of medals and a prize fund of 26 million rubles. Spectators watched battles in 13 weight categories for nine days. And the Russian championship really turned out to be grand and lived up to the wildest expectations.
There weren't a lot of sensational results. But this only proves that recognized leaders and flagships of Russian boxing come to national competitions extremely motivated. Edmond Khudoyan became a five-time Russian champion, and Andrei Zamkovoy won a record eighth gold. Young talents have also emerged. The first in his weight category was 19-year-old Andrey Peglivanyan.
